The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce that American University's Juliana Crum has been selected as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for Oct. 17 through Oct. 23.
A 5-9 sophomore from Hacienda Heights, Calif., Crum was steady on both sides of the net as the Eagles picked up a trio of victories, including a pair of key Patriot League road wins.
In a non-conference match to start the week, Crum notched 14 kills on .565 while just missing a double-double with nine digs in sweep of Howard. Then, on the road at Colgate, Crum drilled 17 kills, hitting .533 with 11 digs and three aces as AU won in four. Finally, the sophomore had 10 more terminations while hitting .444 in a sweep of Bucknell.
On the week, the outside averaged 4.1 kills per set on a scorching .521 hitting, also contributing 2.6 digs per frame. She added eight aces and four blocks as well, helping American roll to its 11th victory in the last 12 matches and stay on top in league play.
For her efforts, Crum earned Patriot League Molten Player of the Week honors. The outside is the first Eagle to earn the CVU.com honor and just the second player from the Patriot League.
In addition to the Player of the Week, CVU.com will be announcing selections for the Top Performers from the past week. These selections will include the Player of the Week and up to 10 others. Choices will consist of players who were finalists for the weekly honor and others who had exceptional individual matches. The additional selections will be based on nominations and CVU.com staff criteria.
