The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce that UCF senior Rachel Vukson has been selected as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for Aug. 29 through Sept. 4.
A 6-1 setter from Oakville, Ontario, Vukson led the Knights to a trio of sweeps to claim the title at the FGCU Homewood Suites Invitational.
In their marquee match-up, the Knights rolled through perennial national power USC for a 3-0 victory, with Vukson tallying a double-double with 42 assists and 10 digs, adding four blocks as UCF hit .351 for the match.
The next two contests had a similar outcome as the Knights earned sweeps over both Furman and FGCU. In the sweep of the host Eagles, Vukson tossed out 45 assists as she set UCF to a .424 team hitting percentage.
For the tournament, the senior averaged 13.78 assists per set to go with 2.22 digs per set and six total blocks. The Knights hit .344 on the weekend.
Vukson is the first Knight to be selected for the CVU.com weekly honor.
