It's Destinee: Hooker Named CVU.com National Player of the Year

The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce its selection of Texas' Destinee Hooker as the 2009 CVU.com National Player of the Year.

A senior from San Antonio, Texas, Hooker led the Longhorns to a Big 12 title and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament title match.

A 6-4 outside hitter, Hooker was fourth in the nation in kills per set at 5.06, while at the same time being highly rated in efficiency. She finished 32nd in that category with a .358 clip. The senior also averaged 0.45 aces per set, good for 18th in the NCAA rankings.

Defensively, Hooker also added 2.34 digs and 0.84 blocks per set. Additionally, Hooker was named to the CVU.com Stellar Spikers First Team for the second consecutive season.

Texas finished the season with a 29-2 record.
