The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce that Santa Clara senior Brittany Lowe has been selected as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for Oct. 27 through Nov. 2.
A 6-0 outside hitter from Yorba Linda, Calif., Lowe led the Broncos to a pair of West Coast Conference road victories, including an upset of Pepperdine.
Last Thursday against the Waves, Lowe knocked down a team-high 14 kills, recording a double-double by adding 15 digs as Santa Clara not only swept Pepperdine, but earned a sweep in the season series. The senior hit .324 in the match and also added a service ace.
Then Saturday at Loyola Marymount, Lowe again came through with similar numbers. She again had a team-high, tallying 16 kills while picking up another double-double as she scooped 14 digs. She also added two more aces in the match. The victory put the Broncos into a tie for third in the West Coast Conference.
For the week, Lowe averaged 4.29 kills per set on .273 hitting. She also had 4.14 digs per set and added three total aces.
Lowe is the second Santa Clara player to earn CVU.com National Player of the Week accolades. Crystal Matich picked up the award Dec. 6, 2005.
