Top Bruin: Meriwether Named Player of the Year

The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce its selection of UCLA's Nana Meriwether as the 2006 CVU.com National Player of the Year.

A senior from Potomac, Md., Meriwether led the Bruins to a second-place finish in the Pac-10 and a third-place finish nationally.

A 6-1 middle blocker, Meriwether averaged 4.09 kills per game while hitting scorching the opposition for a .438 hitting percentage.

Additionally, Meriwether put back 1.95 blocks per game. Her blocks per game, as well as her attack percentage, led the NCAA, and she became the first Division I player to finish a season at the top of two statistical categories.

Her attack efficiency also ranks seventh among the NCAA Division I single-season records in the rally-scoring era.
