After weekend of 123 assists, 41 digs, nine blocks, three kills, a service ace and two big wins, the Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce that Saint Mary's College of California sophomore Mandy Bible has been selected as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for November 29 through December 5.
A 5-10 setter from Santa Barbara, Calif., Bible led the Panthers to two NCAA tournament victories over the weekend, including their history-making first ever.
In Thursday's first round match against Sacramento State, four Gaels reached double digits in kills as Bible recorded 56 assists. In the fourth game the team hit .417 on the way to a decisive 30-17 win. Bible also had a kill, 19 digs and four block assists in the match.
The next night against host California, Bible piled up another 67 assists and led the team to a .364 hitting percentage in the deciding fifth game. Three players finished in double figures in kills for the match, and Bible added a pair herself on .333 hitting. She also had 22 assists and another five blocks (one solo, four assists).
The No. 10 seed in the tournament, St. Mary's advances to the NCAA Regionals and will face host school Washington on Friday.
